'Nylon' - Grey Whistle Test
Nylon is the most recent release from my musical project, Grey Whistle Test. The track was written between lockdowns iwht my best mate in London and myself in Sydney. The track is a celebration of friendship and a reminder of the importance of those connections we make and take for granted in periods of huge isolation.
The track was written up by 'Beat magazine' and 'Trouble Juice' and aired on 3RRR and FBI.
We shot the entirety of the music video on an old grainy Sony handicam and edited myself.
'Delone' - Beans The Band
Delone is the debut single for my solo music project 'Beans The Band'. The track was the first thing i ever wrote or recorded shortly after learning the guitar in 2016.
The track explores the idea of our innate loneliness while dreaming despite how expansive and connective they may seem. It is a meditation on how complex our dreams are and the functions they have in telling us how we are really feeling.
The track was mixed by Snowy (Ocean Party, Snowy Band) and the music video was premiered by Trouble Juice and written up by Beat magazine & How good Melbourne.
'Grey Whistle Test' EP - 2018
Our self titled debut EP was ultimately about proving to ourselves that we can write and release music purely from our bedrooms and stand behind it proudly.
The six tracks on the record are as varyingly different in both content and sound as could be.
'Watermelon' has since become GWT's most popular song and in many ways set the path for what direction we were to take for future records.
'Terraformer' - Grey Whistle Test
Terraformer was the first music video we released as GWT.
The song is a commentary on the politics and confusion surrounding certain groups approach to climate change.
The track was written up by 'Happy Mag' and aired by 3RRR.
Post Pt.1 EP - 2019
Our sophomore EP 'Post Pt.1' was a body of work that focused on the experiences of grief and the many ways that can be physicalised.
Written a year after the death of Will's mother, alot of these songs were about extrapolating what we were going with and bringing those feelings into the air to be burnt out.
The songs are complex and multi faceted in their way of approaching the way one grieves but ultimately are an optimistic take on what mourning can look like. Showing that perhaps often the best way to begrieve something/someone is to live it eternalise that feeling in something else, in this case music.
